Hi Avicii! Within only a few years, you’ve become one of the world’s most famous DJ’s. Your second studio album is not even out yet. How can you explain such a success although there is an enormous amount of DJ’s out there to compete with you?

I don’t like to restrict my sound or style. The possibilities are endless. I love finding «out-of-the-box inspirations» and blending them with what I’ve done in the past. And when I experiment with genres, it doesn’t sound forced. Most important, I always make sure it’s something that I really love.

How was it possible for your still very novel career to create all these relations to names like Carlos Santana or Aloe Blacc?

I meet most of my collaborators through various connections that my manager, Ash, or I have. It’s been great, because I’ve been able to work with so many incredible artists!

Can you feel a certain jealousy from other DJ’s regarding your age and your massive rise within such a short time in the scene?

No, not at all. I think we’re all very supportive of each other.

Do you prefer playing in small venues than in enormous locations? What atmosphere do you like better? Or even more: Are you still performing in tiny clubs at all?

It’s just two different types of vibes. A good club show can be as good as a good festival, but just in a different way. Festivals are way bigger, and seeing the reactions of twenty thousand people jumping and dancing differs from playing a more intimate club setting – but I love playing both! And yes, I still play clubs.

And to conclude: Would you like to say something to your fans visiting Swiss festivals?

I always like to do something special for festivals, so expect some surprises… and get ready to dance!
